Cardin’s legacy
Pierre Cardin is a visionary who dared to introduce revolutionary concepts in the fashion world and his legacy is definitely here to stay.
Honestly, his brand name is attached not only to fashion garments, but also to all kinds of merchandise, furniture and even automobiles that at one point I stopped paying a close attention whatsoever.
Now, that he is no more, I took some time to delve deeper and try to understand more of the person he was and the incredible career he had!
Next, I am willing to shortly share his fascinating story with you and give you some ideas on how to transfer Cardin’s style into everyday outfits!
An architect, a businessman, a fashion genius
“I don’t like to stop, I like to continually prove myself,” Cardin said in an interview with CBS in 2012. The fashion world renowned him throughout his career for his groundbreaking approach to both design and business. Though the practice of a fashion house lending its name to a variety of different products and concepts is now trivial, Cardin’s approach was pioneering.
He licensed everything: from automobiles to restaurants, to hotels, jewelry, glasses, fragrances, furniture… And even tableware, thus expanding his brand name and empire!

A creative visionary
Pierre Cardin was the person to revolutionize the business model of high fashion. He introduced the concept of ready-to-wear collections in 1959 because he firmly believed that quality design should be accessible to all.
In the ’60s, he shaped the mod aesthetic with Space Age fashion designs. His futuristic collections were influenced by geometric shapes and crafted in fabrics like plastics and brightly colored vinyl. (ringing any bells? 🔔)
His breaking designs forged him the aura of a creative visionary and turned him into “What I am now never existed before!”.

Now, I will teleport you to some of his best looks! I will give you practical steps on how to translate his style into everyday wear of 2021.
Statement ruffles
Here are 5 pins you can use to translate every kind of high-end style into your everyday outfit building:
✅ Look for the overall vibe of the attire, the flow;
✅ Check the distinguishing material;
✅ Observe the form or what you see prevailing;
✅ Pay attention to the accessories that tie up the outfit;
✅ The color is obvious, so leave it aside, it is the first to be easily achieved.
So, what do you see here… ruffles and silk.
From here it’s easy-breezy.But again: to get inspired I checked the home feed of La Koketa App and filtered it by green, gold, and black. Look what I found!!!
Remember that you can edit and change the suggested outfits. Here I changed the shoes to black to immediately convey that elegant vibe!
Here is how I created the outfit myself… What’s left is to find a venue to wear it…

Chic comfort
Haute Couture for the masses – as controversial as it sounds Pierre Cardin believed it could be achieved. Here is our take on that idea…
1️⃣ Here I simply viewed my digital items and took the ones I already have in my wardrobe! Then I created the outfit!
2️⃣ Don’t forget that you can shop pieces you don’t have directly from the app. I will link some ideas at the end of the blog.

The future is now
1️⃣ Clean design, latex, uniform colors translated below.
2️⃣ I have this vintage dress of mine and styling it with OTK latex boots and wearing it over a high neck long sleeve in the same color gives the same feeling… What do you think?
