Bio
LK: Please introduce yourself.
ISW: Irina (or Ira for some of my close Bulgarian friends).
LK: What is your field of expertise or where do you find your passion?
ISW: I am a mother to a toddler girl named Kaia Sophia and a wife to a Canadian- born husband. Having lived in London for the past 10 years, both the U.K. and Bulgaria feel like home. I love the multicultural environment in London, the social and art scene is second to none. All three of us have dual Citizenship (mine and my daughter’s are Bulgarian and British), so I guess we are what you’d call the quintessential international family. I work in pharmaceuticals and currently manage commercial operations across the U.K., Northern Europe, Ireland and Israel for a company focused on women’s health. It feels great knowing that my work contributes to improving the health of women across the world as it’s a largely underserved market. I’m passionate about gender equality and diversity&inclusion in the workplace as I want to contribute to a more equitable future for my daughter.
LK: What do you love and keeps you going?
ISW: My family and friends. Spending time with my daughter and my husband always takes priority. We love traveling (COVID has been hard…) and keeping active. Looking after my physical health is important to me as it keeps me balanced and mentally healthy. I love running (I’ve finished two marathons), diving and I’m still waiting for the opportunity to improve my snowboarding skills…!
LK: What’s your biggest fear?
ISW: I used to have major FOMO… in all honesty becoming a mother and the COVID experience of this last year have changed that.
Fun
LK: The first app you open when you wake up… before or after coffee? ☕
ISW: Instagram or Facebook (I’m not proud of it but I’m a bit of a social media junkie…).
LK: Your happy place is…
ISW: Somewhere warm on a beach, where I can suntan in a bikini (preferably with a drink in hand) and my husband can kitesurf.
LK: Your comfort food is…
ISW: Dark chocolate
LK: What do you like to mix for a good mood?
ISW: I usually go for champagne but I won’t say no to a good old-fashioned.
LK: When or what changed your perception of the world?
ISW: I became a mother. I’ve found that I can feel love with yet another level of intensity and that my life has gained another dimension.
Fashion & Style
LK: Can you describe your style?
ISW: My style has evolved through the years. What has remained the same is my love for high-quality accessories. I’ve got a collection of shoes and bags which I built a separate closet space for in our loft. Picking out a nice pair of heels and a bag to finish off an outfit is the best part of a dressing-up experience for me. I’m a fan of classics like YSL, Valentino, Mulberry, Prada, and Jimmy Choo. I do believe the way one dresses is an important part of their personal brand so it’s key to pick items that add to the image one wants to convey. For me, it’s about being confident and memorable.
LK: Share with us the one fashion item that defines you?
ISW: A pair of designer shoes. It used to be all about the heels but it’s recently been about high-quality sneakers. I’m an absolute fan of Valentino and have invested in a few timeless pairs from the rock stud collection.
LK: What are you wearing right now?
ISW: I just got back from a walk in Hyde Park with my daughter and husband. I’ve got a pair of high-waisted jeans on, a white Ralph Lauren shirt, a Gucci belt and a Walter Baker leather jacket. I had my Valentino rock stud sneakers on, which are great for weekend family adventures.
LK: Tell us more about the outfit that made your day and why you remember it?
ISW: I’ve got a vivid memory from our NYE experience in Hawaii. This photo was taken at sunset and I’m wearing a Reiss jumpsuit, my favorite Valentino shoes and belt, and a pair of vintage earrings I bought in New Orleans.
LK: What’s in your shopping cart or on your wish list right now? (and no cares if it’s empty, we all strive for that 😍)
ISW: I’m looking at another pair of summer rock stud Valentino sandals. I’m daydreaming about summer getaways, clearly..!
LK: The celebrity you’d like to have dinner with would be?
ISW: How about Warren Buffett? I’ve recently gotten curious about stocks and investing, so I can learn a thing or two from him.
LK: The style icon that inspires you most is?
ISW: I don’t have a favorite. I follow quite a few social influencers on Instagram and pick and choose what feels right for me.
