Heading off on an island vacation? Lucky you! Here’s one piece of advice to start off your trip right: plan your summer outfits in advance.
So, you say, you’re going away for a week? No problem! Here’s a step-by-step, easy-to-do guide to getting everything you need into one bag! Let’s go!
Planning
The key to packing light is getting organized before you place even one flip-flop in your bag.
1 – Weather
Consult the weather forecast for your destination. No “what ifs” in our bags! You’ll take only what’s necessary. How you gonna do that: Filter your items in the app by “Season” – to make sure your items match the weather and then by “Style” or even “Color”. You may try to keep a neutral scheme or go in the opposite direction – bold colors and pop-up prints! Either way, refer to this post to dress with colors that truly suit you!
2 – Agenda
Have at least a notion of your agenda and start creating outfits around it, so you’ll have outfits for everything you plan on doing. Start with items that are essential for an activity and then build the outfit from there.
For example, if you’re going to be walking all day, start with your sneakers and build your outfit around that. Overpacking happens when you start grabbing drawers full of shirts and dropping them onto your bed or floor or directly into your open bag.
Create several outfits with the “Create outfit” of the app and make sure you name them properly like: “Paris day 1 lunch”, “NY night out 1” or whatever naming convention works for you. Save every outfit you create, ‘cos later on you may need to drop off some of them! Saving outfits by “Day 1, Day 2 and so on” will reduce the stress when you reach your destination, because you’ll already know what you’d be wearing!!!
3 – Check
Revise the outfits created once more and lay them on your bed. To fit a wide variety of outfits into one bag, you’ll need to focus on versatility and accessories. Yep, that’s a good trick to remember. A pair of jeans and sneakers with a scarf can do perfectly for a breezy day around, but adding a sleek belt, statement earrings, and a pair of high-end sunnies would get you through the night and beyond :).
4 – Pack
Pack everything together. You know all the packing tricks but here are the main tips:
✅ Roll up, don’t fold;
✅ Wear your heaviest items on the road or on the plane;
✅ Fill empty space with socks or small toiletries;
✅ Put on top (that’s my personal rule) of your bag a charger, refreshing towels, hair bands, cream, and mascara. 👀
